Inner-City "AGT" Train System in Phnom Penh announced by Minister of Transport
According to recent Khmer Times report, after a year-long feasibility study by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Cambodian government is now seeking $800 million funding in order to undertake development of an automated gateway transit (AGT) system for the capital city, Phnom Penh.
An Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) system is an automated, driverless transport system where vehicles are guided along a "guideway" or rail system. Most are rubber tired, but some systems have steel wheels. It is somewhat similar to a SkyTrain, Tram or Monorail system, depending on the design.
โThrough the evaluation, the AGT is the most flexible system in terms of geometric design among other alternatives such as a metro, monorail, LRT
